My fantasy piece

It’s one thing to have a grail piece. But I thought I’d imagine a fantasy piece. I will invite IWC or Panerai to design it…..

My fantasy piece would be 47mm or 48mm in diameter because I need oversize pieces on my thick wrists. The piece would have a manually wound movement with 7 or 8 days power reserve. It would have a power reserve indicator on the back, à la Panerai, to keep the dial clean and simple. The movement would have a seconds reset function. The dial would be bold and simple with large Arabic numerals. There would be small seconds subdial at 6 o’clock or 9 o’clock.

Now, I love to cook and this requires a chronograph. But too many subdials clutter the dial. So I would either use the small seconds to time my cooking. Or I would include one single chronograph subdial that would register only seconds or minutes. Just enough information to time steaks on the BBQ.

My piece would have some sort of a nylon or fabric strap that would be easily changeable so I could switch to leather or rubber whenever I want. The piece would use high tech materials such as carbon fibre, titanium, ceramic, etc.

Please submit your designs to WatchPaper.

Yours truly,

TimeCaptain

I can only second TimeCaptain’s encouragement, please send us your 3D rendering, a mockup, or just a simple sketch with a description and we’ll post it here on WatchPaper with your name.

Those of you that are less creative can also participate by leaving a comment with their fantasy piece description. Who knows, someone might take up a challenge and design it for you.

TimeCaptain is a self-confessed timepiece junkie.  He spends nearly all of his spare time buying,  selling,  trading,  researching, admiring and trying different timepieces. He's also a fanatic Formula 1 fan, having followed every single Grand Prix since 1991.  He switches to NFL football in the fall and roots for the Green Bay Packers. A child of the 1980's, TimeCaptain is mad about 80's music,  TV, cinema and pop culture.  Another interest of TimeCaptain is space exploration and the study of distant planets and galaxies. When asked about his favorite watch,  TimeCaptain remembers Enzo Ferrari's answer as to his favorite car- "the one I haven't built yet."
