The 2014 Longines Heritage Diver

The new Longines Heritage Diver chronograph is a re-issue of a model produced in the 70s.

Longines announced the re-issue of two diver’s pieces from the 1970s — one with three hands and the other is a chronograph.

Just as the original models, their cushion-shaped brushed stainless steel case has a diameter or 43 mm and it is water-resistant to 300 m. The black, satin finished dial looks fantastic with the red highlights and the Super-Luminova coating.

We’re told that the case back is engraved with the figure of a diver, alluding to the first diver’s watches produced by Longines.

The three hands version of the new Longines Heritage Diver

The three hands version of the new Longines Heritage Diver

The three hands model differs from the chronograph with one red hand and red minute zone. The graduated scale from 0 up to 60 enables the diver to calculate how long he or she has been underwater by synchronizing the 12 o’clock hour symbol with the minute hand. The inner flange is activated using the crown at 2 o’clock.

The chronograph version boasts the same colour scheme, but in contrast the graduated scale on the flange goes from 60 down to 0. This enables the diver to calculate the remaining time, for example to allow for decompression when returning to the surface, by synchronizing a given point with the minute hand.

They’ll come on a black synthetic or rubber strap.

The chronograph is already available in Canada and retails for $3,550 CAD. We’ll get back to you later with the price for the three hands model.
