One of the extraordinary watches that will go under the hammer on November 15, 2016, at the autumn sale of Important Watches of Sotheby’s Geneva, is the one-of-a-kind IWC Pilot’s Watch Annual Calendar Edition “Le Petit Prince (Reference IW502704, Lot 175). It is a poetic combination of a red gold case and midnight blue dial and… movement! The dial features an annual calendar display at 12, a power reserve indicator at 3, balanced by the small seconds sub-dial at 9 o’clock. The lume filled gold hands and appliqués create a beautiful contrast with the sunray finished dark blue dial.

The back of the watch reveals the automatic Calibre 52850 in blue, the first ever to be developed by IWC and the most charming part, that will melt the heart of every Saint-Exupéry fan, is the gold planet with the little prince that serves as the rotor. It took IWC two years to develop this unique movement, requiring complex techniques to achieve an even blue finish.

All proceeds from the sale of this watch will go to the Antoine de Saint-Exupéry Youth Foundation and since it is sold for charity there is no auction estimate. The suggested retail price is CHF 35,000.
