I just love single-handed watches, be that a MeisterSinger or a Botta Design, there is something uber-cool about them. And if they are inspired by sports car tachometers, like the Ferro Watches Distinct 2 currently on Kickstarter, my love hormones get out of control. The number 2 in the name, is a hint to the fact that it a second, improved, iteration of the Distinct concept.

They come in two five colours, now that the campaign has raised $75,000. When it comes to the engine, you can choose between  Swiss Ronda quartz movement,  Japanese automatic Miyota 8215, or Swiss ETA 2824. For shoes, you can go with black or brown leather, plus you will receive an extra perforated racing strap.

The 44mm polished stainless steel case is rather large on the wrist, but it definitely helps with making the watch look like the tachometer on the dashboard of a car. The wire lugs add to the modern minimalist appearance of the Ferro Distinct and the rounded case is matched with a double-domed sapphire crystal on the automatic models and flat sapphire crystal on the quartz versions.

There is not much time left of the Kickstarter campaign, as I’m writing this article, there are less than five days left to pre-order.

As a graphic designer, I'm fascinated by the crossroads between technology and aesthetics. Horology is one of these crafts, where art and engineering come together to produce mechanical wonders that grace the eye. WatchPaper was born from the desire to create an online tool where I can share my passion for watches.
