The Speedmaster Dark Side Of The Moon collection is expanded with four new models.

This week, at Baselworld, Omega has unveiled four new versions of the popular Speedmaster Moonwatch Dark Side Of The Moon collection: Black Black, Sedna Black, Pitch Black and Vintage Black.

Black Black

The Speedmaster Dark Side of the Moon “Black Black”

I remember hearing Chris Hadfield giving an interview to CBC after his return from his space mission and one things that he described that really moved my imagination was the blackness of space, a black we can’t experience here on Earth. The total absence of light that can be experienced only in space was probably the source of inspiration for Omega when they’ve designed the Speedmaster Dark Side of the Moon.

With the “Black Black” (Ref. 311.92.44.51.01.005), Omega has turned off the lights completely, opting for a polished and brushed black ceramic case, a matt black ceramic dial and a black ceramic clasp on a black coated nylon fabric strap. The brushed blackened Moonwatch-style hands and blackened applied indexes are all coated with black Super-LumiNova. The sub-dials at 3 and 9 o’clock are also matt black and the black ceramic bezel has a black lacquered tachymeter scale.

Sedna Black

The “Sedna Black” (Ref. 311.63.44.51.06.001) is the result of the combination of Omega’s ceramic technology and their famous rose gold alloy, called Sedna gold.

It has a completely brushed black ceramic case with an 18K Sedna gold bezel ring which matches the Sedna gold applied indexes and hands. The marks on the matt grey dial have been created using laser ablation. The central hour, minute and gold-plated chronograph seconds hands as well as the indexes and the two dots at 12 o’clock are coated with the same “Vintage” Super-LumiNova we already saw on the Seamaster 300 Master Co-Axial. The Omega Speedmaster Dark Side of the Moon “Sedna Black” comes with a black leather strap that is equipped with a brushed ceramic foldover clasp.

Pitch Black

The “Pitch Black” (Ref. 311.92.44.51.01.004), can be recognized thanks to the Super-LumiNova that coats the indexes on its matt black ceramic dial as well as the tachymeter scale on its brushed ceramic bezel.

The “Pitch Black” is presented on a black leather strap with ecru stitching and a ceramic foldover clasp.

Vintage Black

Finally, the “Vintage Black” (Ref. 311.92.44.51.01.006) is a classic approach to the Speedmaster Dark Side of the Moon, with with brown indexes and hands, which complement the “vintage” Super-LumiNova. Just like on the “Pitch Black”, the tachymeter scale on the bezel of the “Vintage Black” too is coated with Super-Luminova.

The brown leather strap accentuates the vintage allure of this model.

All four of these models are powered by the Omega Co-Axial calibre 9300.
