Ocean Predator Diver by Stranger Watches

One year after their successful Kickstarter campaign to raise funds for their steppe inspired Thoroughbred Collection, Stranger is back on the crowdfunding platform, this time with a diving themed collection, called the Ocean Predator Diver.

They were looking for an aggressive yet elegant design, each of the four models of the collection is named after a feared predator of the oceans. With a diameter of 44 mm, we are in a rather aggressive territory, indeed, and the shape of the lugs, the bold proportions of the lume filled round indexes and arrow-shaped hands just add to the combative look of the watches. The elegance comes from the texture of the hammered dial and the restrained and smart way of using colours and textures, to create a tool watch that will look just as good on the beach as in more formal situations.

The Ocean Predator watches come with an internal rotating bezel, protected by a sapphire crystal, that can be rotated by the crown at two o’clock. The two crowns were designed to offer an excellent grip to help with adjusting the time or positioning the bezel.

The beating heart of the four predators is an automatic Seiko NH35 movement with three hands and date functions.

All three models of this collection are water resistant to 200 meters (660 feet).

The Kickstarter campaign will run until August 1st, 2016 , with a pre-order price starting at $329 and after the campaign, they will start at $449.

As a graphic designer, I'm fascinated by the crossroads between technology and aesthetics. Horology is one of these crafts, where art and engineering come together to produce mechanical wonders that grace the eye. WatchPaper was born from the desire to create an online tool where I can share my passion for watches.
