World-renowned Irish actor Pierce Brosnan became for the next three years the official ambassador of independent watchmaker Speake-Marin. We all know him from movies like Thomas Crown and his great impersonation of James Bond. Personally, when it comes to Brosnan and watches, I can’t get out of my mind that scene from The Fourth Protocol, where he plays a Russian agent sent to London to detonate a portable nuclear weapon. He’s there laying on his bed, waiting to set up the bomb and kills time by rotating the bezel on his watch.

In one of his upcoming movies, the Survivor, he plays a watchmaker and it is actually on the set of this movie that he met with Peter Speake-Marin, who was invited as a consultant. Their shared passion for watches proved to be fertile ground to lay the seed of friendship.

Pierce Brosnan declared:

I met Peter on the set of a film in which he was a consultant for a character who was a watchmaker. We spoke briefly; we both love what we do, and myself as a lover of watches I appreciated his genuine passion and subsequent designs. I acquired one of his time pieces and a dialogue ensued. When Peter asked me to be an ambassador for his work it was a simple answer.
