All new model CAMEO- S by TEMPTION

CAMEO is limited to 500pce’s

The model, to be announced at the Basel Fair 2009, expands the available CAMEO models by TEMPTION by an eye catching silver dial design. However it is so different from all the other rectangular time pieces it has to be looked at as a very unique and oustanding watch model of it’s own. It attracts customers, who request beyond classic appearances avantgardistic watches, which include all quality criteria possible of mechanical watch making. Especially the case, incorporating milled slots on the side, is a piece of jewellery of its own.

The looks of the watch is absolutely unique on the market and unbeaten by any other manufacturer. The cabochon is made out of onyx. Of course like any other TEMPTION model the readability is outstanding. Hands and Indexes are intensivly illuminated. The crown is screwed, sapphires both on top and bottom, bottom and band links are screwed as well and so on.

The movement is based on ETA 2892A2 . The dimensions of the case is 40,5 x 37,5 mm, which is eyecatching for a rectangular watch and pleases the masculine attitude for large watches, which are easy to wear without being oversized. The height is just 9,9 mm – unusual flat for such a watch – an easy to wear, large peace of jewellery! The watches are no mass production at all but handcrafted in our small dedicated firm.

CAMEO why is this watch different?

We don’t talk of its architectural pure and unmatched design or the attractive case, which is a piece of jewellery of its own. We don’t talk of its outstanding ergonomics and readability. But we talk of a new and attractive technical solution for a decade’s long challenge in making watches.

CAMEO has a unusual large and rectangular top glass, which is curved on both sides. This top glass (essentially it’s not glass but sapphire, which almost as hard as a diamond), grinded with the very precise radius as the case, is chemically bonded to the case.

The water proof ness of other rectangular or square watches is limited, because there is a gasket around each glass. Especially the corners are subject to leakage. That’s why other similar watches are not really rectangular but have round corners and sometimes considerable radiuses are incorporated. Despite that this technology allows only a limited water proof ness.

The CAMEO top sapphire is chemically bonded to the case. In order to hide the bondage there is frame like mirror coating on the inside of the sapphire. That’s why we were able to design the top sapphire with sharp and true edges and still have satisfying water proof ness. We are proud of this result.

This technology, to have a large curved sapphire, chemical bonding with frame like mirror coating to hide the bonding and appropriate tolerances to allow that takes a lot of effort. The price for that is as far as we see it more than the price for the entire watch of many competitors.

CAMEO is different, because the architectural pure and unbeaten Design and the attractive case meet this new technology and sum up to an eye catcher of unbeaten value. Some times design AND technology are to work hand in hand to make the result something special a true piece of jewellery.

Horology is one of these crafts, where art and engineering come together to produce mechanical wonders that grace the eye. WatchPaper was born from the desire to create an online tool where I can share my passion for watches.
