18 January 2010 – No watch is more closely identified with OMEGA’s pioneering spirit than the Speedmaster.

The legendary chronograph has a long list of adventures to its credit, including every one of NASA’s piloted missions since May of 1963. When Buzz Aldrin stepped onto the lunar surface in 1969 wearing his OMEGA Speedmaster Professional, the watch achieved true iconic status.

In 2010 OMEGA is introducing a selection of 38 mm Speedmaster Ladies’ wristwatches. The first of the new releases combines the robust sportiness and chronograph performance which have long characterized the line with some touches of elegance not normally associated with the rugged Speedmasters.

Like the Speedmaster Professional, this member of the famous family has a stainless steel case but it has been dressed up with an 18 Ct pink gold bezel ring paved with 54 diamonds.

The COSC-certified chronometer is presented on a specially-treated grey alligator leather strap. The watch is powered by the OMEGA calibre 3304, a self-winding mechanical movement.

In addition to its full chronograph function, it has a date window at 6 ‘clock.

The OMEGA Speedmaster Ladies 38 mm: precision chronograph performance has never been more fashionable.

18 January 2010 – The OMEGA Skeletonized Central Tourbillon Co-Axial Platinum Limited Edition is the ultimate expression of the watchmaker’s art. Each watch is handcrafted in OMEGA’s Cellule Haut de Gamme (Tourbillon Atelier) in Bienne by a select group of horologists.

In a Tourbillon movement, all of the main components responsible for the timepiece’s precision are assembled in a rotating cage. OMEGA is the only watchmaker ever to have created a central Tourbillon. Its titanium cage rotates completely every 60 seconds, offsetting the effect of gravity on the performance of the watch.

Tourbillon technology, dazzling design

The Skeletonized Tourbillon Co-Axial Platinum Limited Edition combines the complex Tourbillon technology with dazzling design elements.

The movement has a luxurious sun-brushed pearlescent finish; its bridges and mechanisms are hand polished. The rotor with its sapphire plate has been newly designed and is etched with the words “Limited Edition” and the watch’s individual serial number (out of 18). The Skeletonized Tourbillon Co-Axial Platinum Limited Edition is equipped with a Breguet balance spring.

The Central Tourbillon’s hands cannot be mounted on a central shaft in the conventional way. They are etched on to sapphire crystal disks and propelled by gearing at the peripheries of the disks. The result is dramatic – they appear to float freely above the movement.

One watchmaker’s masterpiece

To make a skeletonized version of the Central Tourbillon, the watchmaker begins by sawing away any non-essential material from the plates and bridges, then bevelling their edges. Unlike products from conventional workshops, each Tourbillon is the work of one watchmaker who spends up to 540 hours on the creation of the skeletonized version of the watch. This means that every Skeletonized Central Tourbillon is unique – no two are exactly alike.

Each watchmaker engraves his or her personal initials on the underside of the Tourbillon base to assure that all parts can be returned to their maker after they have been galvanized. When a Central Tourbillon is returned to OMEGA for servicing, it will be placed in the hands of the original watchmaker.

Only 18 pieces of this Skeletonized Tourbillon Coaxial Platinum Limited Edition will be produced.

An OMEGA Co-Axial movement

The outstanding chronometric performance of OMEGA’s exclusive Co-Axial calibre 2636 is enhanced by the state-of-the-industry escapement which has re-defined the way mechanical wristwatches are being made. The complex movement is assembled from 320 individual parts.

The remarkable Central Tourbillon calibre is housed in a platinum case presented with a black alligator bracelet.

While the Skeletonized Central Tourbillon watches are accurate – each one is a COSC-certified chronometer – they are particularly valued for their beauty and the complexity of the Tourbillon mechanism. Every component in the movement and case is produced exclusively for the Central Tourbillons.

The OMEGA Skeletonized Central Tourbillon Co-Axial Platinum Limited Edition is the exquisite creation of a legendary watch brand working at the peak of its powers.

The adventures of the 21st century are based on the progress that has been made in technology and the ideas, that will extend the frontiers of humanity from land to air to the last final step, outer space.

The established Swiss brand FORTIS, well versed in the history of aeronautics and space travel, uses its knowledge for developing precise chronographs for pilots, cosmonauts and astronauts. As the supplier of numerous professional flight squadrons and as the manufacturer of the official watches of the Russian space program, FORTIS keeps constantly in touch with pilots and space travelers. This strong contact allows FORTIS to constantly test the watches in the most extreme conditions, and has enriched the creative work of the company as well as gaining experience and knowledge that can be incorporated into new timepieces.

The functionally designed, PVD black coated steel watch case topped by a double coated sapphire crystal, has a diameter of 42-millimeters whereas the mat black dial and the contrasting white dial design finely characterize the B-42 FLIEGER BLACK collection. The white luminous hands and hour markers ensure clarity and good legibility, even under diffused light. The glass case back allows inside view into the mechanics of the automatic movements and the C.O.S.C. tested FORTIS chronograph alarm calibre F2001-5 reveals the fascination of a unique micro mechanical masterpiece, one of a kind.

The side view of the B-42 collection shows its characteristic elements: screwed attachment lugs, protected push buttons, and a proportionally sized and easily accessible crown embossed with the FORTIS crown logo. All models are available with a sporty strap made of high-quality rubber with folding clasp, with a padded black leather strap with contrast stitching or with an elegant Louisiana crocodile leather strap, whereas both of them can be featured with an alternate butterfly folding clasp instead of the standard buckle.

Explanation: PHYSICAL VAPOUR DEPOSITION (PVD)

Shattering existing limits: such is the motto of the CX Swiss Military WatchTM brand, which is proudly unveiling its record-breaking 20’000 FEET, the only mechanical timepiece able to plunge more than 6,000 metres deep! Duly featured in the Guinness Book of Records, the 20’000 FEET fears nothing: neither the pressures equivalent to 750 kg/cm2 exercised at the bottom of the ocean; nor a dynamite blast; nor even rifle bullets. Such unwavering resistance and reliability are bound to fascinate enthusiasts of the extreme.

Infallible and indestructible in even the most hostile environments, the 20’000 FEET naturally takes its place as the absolute leader among professional diver’s watches. Developed in cooperation with experienced divers as well as the famous Oceanographic Institute of the University of Southampton, the 20’000 FEET boasts extreme sturdiness and reliability that are equal to any trials. And speaking of trials…

REAL LIFE TESTS

20'000 FEET by CX Swiss Military Watch

The three Real Life Tests to which the brand has subjected its chronograph confirm its extraordinary performances. Whether fired at by a Winchester rifle from a distance of just eight metres; placed on an explosive charge blasting at a speed of 5,000 metres/second; or submerged by water spurting at 6,000 litres/minute: the 20’000 FEET remained completely unperturbed and its hands continued to turn as if nothing unusual were happening. The one result still lacking is that of the freefall test scheduled for this autumn: after jumping out of an aircraft at an altitude of 20,000 feet (6,000 metres),
a parachutist will drop the watch as soon as he reaches a height of 1,500 metres. Will he find it intact after the impact?

In developing this imposing time instrument, the ultra-confident team at CX Swiss Military WatchTM believes it has taken account of every possible trial and risk, to the point where it even encourages you to submit your own ideas for ambitious and unexpected Real Life Tests! At the end of the year, the person who has suggested the most original test will be rewarded with one of these exceptional timepieces.

A COSC-certified automatic chronograph endowed with a 48-hour power reserve, the 20’000 FEET is equipped with a 46 mm-diameter case carved from a block of titanium, a 10 mm thick domed sapphire crystal, an Incabloc shock-absorbing system, as well as a rugged titanium bracelet complete with safety folding clasp. Despite such impressive credentials, this diver’s watch feels extremely comfortable on the wrist, since the geometry of its hypoallergenic case was specially developed to ensure a perfect fit.

20'000 FEET by CX Swiss Military Watch

THE ONGOING SAGA OF CX SWISS MILITARY WATCHTM RECORDS

Designed as an outstanding complement to professional diving equipment, the 20’000 FEET has earned a new world record for Montres Charmex SA, the parent company of the brand specialising in watches for top-class military and sports use.

Following on from the certification of a water resistance record set in 2005 by the 12’000 FEET (3,657 metres), the firm is celebrating this year the official recognition of its 20’000 FEET – which steals the show from its competitors of most prestigious brands!

Nonetheless, the brand has no intention of resting on its laurels and is already in hot pursuit of other high goals. This determination to excel displayed by Montres Charmex SA is backed by another essentially altruistic objective. As a contribution to preserving nature and its essential biodiversity, the brand has decided to support a magnificent African national park in Zimbabwe: part of the revenue from the sale of each 20’000 FEET will therefore be donated to The Friends of Hwange foundation (www.friendsofwange.org), which was established with the mission of developing this park. Helping to protect the nature is a top priority for this brand that has consistently invited its customers to explore the bounties of nature.

1962. The space race was well under way. Already a supplier to civilian and military aviation, Breitling naturally took a keen interest in this new human adventure. Based on the Navitimer chronograph, the brand’s technicians developed the Cosmonaute, a space-going version of this instrument indicating the daily 24 hours in a single sweep of the dial. Given the extremely relative nature of day and night in space, this configuration prevents possible confusion between midday and midnight. On May 24th 1962, the astronaut Scott Carpenter tested this instrument under real-life conditions during his orbital flight aboard the Aurora 7 capsule.

For its 125th anniversary, Breitling has chosen to issue a limited series of the model that became the first wrist chronograph to experience space travel. Only 1,000 of these Cosmonaute watches will be produced, all equipped for the occasion with an original version of the intriguing 24-hour dial. Further accentuating its distinctive character and in tribute to a modern design icon from the 1960s, the Cosmonaute Limited Edition is fitted exclusively with the rigid perforated Air Racer bracelet.

Embodying the sporting face of CORUM since 1960, the Admiral’s Cup line has consistently appealed to watch connoisseurs through the emblematic shape of its 12-sided case and its flange adorned with nautical pennants. Named after a prestigious international regatta, the collection is one of the brand’s four pillars, along with Romvlvs, Corum Bridges and Artisans. This “champion of the sea” challenges the limits of sporting chic design and technical prowess with the introduction of two limited editions strongly accented on style.

Mysterious and fascinating, the bi-color look is currently very much in vogue. With the Admiral’s Cup Challenge 44 Black and Gold, the Watch-House CORUM introduces a contemporary interpretation to embody this trend – with black or grey PVD coating on all surfaces, richly decorated with red gold accents – a mix of materials producing a distinctive face for a powerful yet elegant timepiece.

Both variations feature the signature Admiral’s Cup twelve-sided case. Adding a luxurious touch to the timepiece, a red gold bezel crowns the dial, enhanced by the reflection of the red gold counter appliques and faceted minute chevrons. Measuring 44 mm in diameter, it has been given an avantgarde black or grey PVD surface treatment using cutting-edge procedures to achieve an exceptionally hard (1300 Vickers) coating. Also applied to the chronograph pushers, this treatment further enhances the intensity of the color, while reinforcing the sophisticated nature of the timepiece and the contrast with the red gold crown. Equipped with a date corrector at 10 o’clock and water resistant to 100 meters, the case is secured by a screwed open back cover. It is fitted with a vulcanized rubber strap complete with folding clasp. Protected by a 12-sided sapphire crystal, the dial features the collection’s characteristic nautical pennants. Since the latter are usually depicted in full color, the monochrome pennants are aesthetically underlined with red gold, on the Admiral’s Cup Challenge 44 Black and Gold to reinforce the strength of the deep shade of the dial. The hands are coated in red gold and filled with a luminescent substance in harmony with the dial color.

The Admiral’s Cup Challenge 44 Black and Gold houses Calibre CO753, a mechanical self-winding chronograph movement that is chronometer-certified by the COSC – a guarantee of precision and reliability.

Chronograph functions as well as the date window at 4.30 o’clock in addition to conventional hour, minute and seconds indications. This movement is graced with an oscillating weight, a black or grey PVD finish and engraved with the CORUM brand name powdered in red gold.

In keeping with a reputation built on the exclusive nature of its designs, CORUM presents these two models in limited editions of 188 pieces for the black PVD version and 128 pieces for the grey PVD version.

A duo of limited editions equips nostalgia with up-to-the minute precision

The 2009 Tissot Heritage timepieces turn the clocks back to 1941 for their inspiration. Two limited editions preserve the aesthetics of an original 1941 Tissot wristwatch in a ‘must-have’ contemporary chronometer with COSC (Contrôle Officiel Suisse des Chronomètres) certification. These timepieces even apply their proven precision to nature with an integrated telemetre to calculate the distance between the wearer and a lightening bolt. The 2009 Tissot Heritage watches have a fascinating story to tell, to both dedicated collectors and today’s trendsetters.

Timeless style

The dial of both 2009 Tissot Heritage editions reflects the unrivalled precision of the Swiss 7753 chronograph movement inside via intricate, golden markings, giving it the character of a fine mechanical instrument. This masterpiece of timekeeping presents itself against the backcloth of a smooth, black dial. A row of intersecting circles, comprising two counters and a mesmerising spiral tachymetre in the centre, builds a bridge from 9 o’clock to 3 o’clock. The even numbers are boldly marked and interspersed with elongated rectangular indices. This rectangular form is mirrored by the 38 mm case’s attachment elements which secure the crocodile leather bracelet in place in true geometric style.

Memories that count
One of the 2009 Tissot Heritage limited editions consists of just 333 numbered pieces. This model has a case made of pure 18-carat rose gold. The second edition being added to the year’s collection comes in stainless steel and has 3,333 pieces. The number of each watch is engraved on the ornately decorated case back, which also incorporates a window through which to view the 27 jewel automatic movement at work. Both editions are chronometers, verified by testing carried out by the independent COSC over several consecutive days in five positions and at three temperatures. From all angles, these timepieces celebrate over 150 years of precision watch making, with Tissot adding its signature of confirmation on the front and back in the form of a historical logo. With these 2009 limited editions, Tissot introduces two of tomorrow’s collectors’ items today.

OMEGA Press Release, Thursday 25 June 2009 – Since the launch of the OMEGA Seamaster Aqua Terra collection in 2008, it has been warmly received by watch enthusiasts who have raved about its blend of eye-catching design excellence and innovating watchmaking technology. OMEGA now introduces another member of the family, the Seamaster Aqua Terra Co-Axial Chronograph.

Like the rest of the collection, its trademark feature is its “Teak Concept” dial whose vertical lines are reminiscent of the wooden decks on luxury boats. The Seamaster Aqua Terra Co-Axial Chronograph’s luxury-finished movement combines OMEGA’s exclusive Co-Axial calibre 3313 and a free sprung balance for outstanding long-term performance. Its precision is confirmed by its COSC-certification as a chronometer. The self-winding watch is also equipped with a column-wheel chronograph mechanism.

The Seamaster Aqua Terra Co-Axial Chronograph is available in four case materials: 18 Ct white gold, 18 Ct red gold, stainless steel or, in the bi-coloured version pictured here featuring 18 Ct red gold and stainless steel. The watches are available either with OMEGA’s patented screw-and-pin system bracelets in corresponding metals or with integrated alligator straps.

The polished, brushed 44 mm case is water resistant to 150 metres (500 feet) and has a polished bezel. The matt polished screw-in crown is embossed with a polished OMEGA logo and the case features polished chronograph pushers. The Seamaster Aqua Terra Co-Axial Chronograph has a domed, scratch-resistant sapphire crystal with anti-reflective treatment on both sides, as well as a polished screw-in caseback whose sapphire crystal makes it possible to see the Co-Axial movement at work.

The 18 Ct white gold model features a teak-black dial; the 18 Ct red gold and the bi-colour watches have teak-grey dials. All of them are sun brushed from the centre and have black sub-dials. The stainless steel edition is available either in vertically-brushed teak-grey with black sub-dials or in teak-ivory with silver sub-dials.

The Seamaster Aqua Terra Co-Axial Chronograph has 18 Ct gold facetted central hour and minute hands coated with white Super-LumiNova and a central chronograph seconds hand. Its small seconds counter is at 9H, with the date window at 4H30. The other sub-dials are the 30-minute recorder at 3H and the 12-hour recorder at 6H.

The dial has applied 18 Ct gold indexes with diamond-polished sides which are also coated with white Super-LumiNova. The OMEGA name and logo on the dial are made of diamond-brushed applied 18 Ct gold.

For more than fifty years, OMEGA’s chronograph watches have been among the most respected in the world; the Seamaster Aqua Terra Co-Axial Chronograph combines this function with its popular “Teak Concept” design and innovative Co-Axial technology that could only come from OMEGA.

Strength and finesse, robustness and frailty: The Tourbillon is the pinnacle of the art of watch making, to which Perrelet adds a limited and numbered edition of 20 timepieces.

Following the clear aesthetical codes of the brand, the brand presents at the beginning of 2009 a new, daring masterpiece: The traditional, flying tourbillon calibre is set in a modern case made of satin-brushed titanium and polished 18 carat rose gold. The movement has been rigorously tested
gaining the much-coveted COSC certificate which is rarely awarded to such complications. The automatic mechanical movement has been decorated with traditional Geneva Stripes and combines perfectly with the winding rotor which features an inlaid glass insert bearing the brand’s name. The entire mechanical marvel can be savoured by the open case back which allows an unimpeded view of the inner workings.

Both worlds coexist in perfect harmony. Tradition is found in the tourbillon movement and the way it has been decorated. The modern touch is emblemized by the case and in particular by its dial. On the face of the watch, matt surfaces in black are combined with a decentred carbon-fibre dial which displays hours and minutes. Vertically arranged titanium inserts lead to the marvel of the “flying” tourbillon which rotates once every minute around its own axis.

A natural black rubber strap which has been embossed with the Perrelet Logo and a titanium/red gold deployment buckle compliment this watchmaking specialty.

This limited Tourbillon edition is immediately available at official Perrelet retailers throughout the world.
